- Dandong: Sino-DPRK Trade Hub - Editor, 7 November 2012
Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Center on 4-6 December 2012, the China HomeLife exhibition is set to feature more than one thousand suppliers of Chinese goods, introducing more than 15,000 products to buyers in the Middle East. The number of exhibitors for the 2012 event is up 300 percent from the number that participated in the inaugural event held in 2010, and the increased presence of Chinese traders is confirmation that trade between China and the UAE continues to grow, building on the significant growth of trade experienced in the last ten years. The latest figures released by the Ministry of Foreign Trade revealed that trade between the United Arab Emirates and China has experienced a 395% increase over the past decade and currently stands at $15.6 billion.
Located on the border between China and North Korea in the Liaoning Province of Northeast China, Dandong is a major port city and ideally placed for the development of trading ties between the two countries. The potential for bilateral trade was highlighted at the recent 2012 China-DPRK Trade, Culture and Tourism Expo held in Dandong, which was a huge success. Up to 20 countries were represented at the expo and despite the downturn in the global economy more than 6,000 business representatives reportedly concluded agreements on over 200 projects.
