Taking place at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 14-16 July 2011, the US-China Trade, Culture and Education Conference 2011 aims to provide a platform for professionals and influential decision makers to network, exchange ideas, and explore new possibilities of working together in a way that will benefit both the United States and China. The delegation travelling to the United States for this inaugural conference includes more than 180 of China's top government officials, academics and business leaders. With the US economy taking strain, and China's increased presence beyond its borders, this conference is very timely and is expected to be well supported.
Registration for the US-China 2011 Conference takes place on the morning of July 14, with a Pre-conference Seminar presented by the President and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah), Jeff Edwards. Between 10:00am and 12:00 noon, the keynote speaker will be Gary R. Herbert, Governor of the State of Utah, and following lunch the program focuses on US-China Track Sessions. The Opening Social on Thursday evening will be hosted by the mayors of Salt Lake City, West Valley City and the city of Provo – Ralph Becker, Mike Winder and John Curtis respectively.
Friday's sessions will take place at the Utah State University, with a presentation by keynote speaker former Senator Robert Bennett, followed by Wuhan's Vice Mayor Yue Yong in the morning session. The American & Chinese Friendship Promotion Society (AC-FPS) will be hosting a barbeque for delegates at the American West Heritage Center. Activities on Saturday include a tour of Salt Lake City and the Utah State Capitol Building. Following lunch, hosted by the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, delegates will have the opportunity to conduct one-on-one business meetings.
Other keynote speakers at the US-China 2011 Conference include the Governor of Qinhai Province, Luo Huining; Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province, Zhao Hongzhu; Governor of Anhui Province, Wang Sanyun; Governor of Yunnan Province, Qin Guangrong; and Executive Director of USTAR (Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative) Ted McAleer. Topics covered in key-note presentations and other sessions will include renewable energy and green technologies; information technologies; life sciences and bio-science; and manufacturing and mining technologies.
